Shostakovich’s “Leningrad” Symphony

The Nazi Siege of Leningrad (Блокада Лениграда) during WWII lasted almost 900 days. Shostakovich wrote his 7th Symphony, “Leningrad,” as a tribute to the city’s endurance, and, somewhat more cryptically, as a condemnation of totalitarianism in all its forms. I’ll add more here later!
