На холодной земле стоит город большой

И сегодня луна каплей крови красна
Дом стоит, свет горит
Из окна видна даль
Так откуда взялась печаль?

И, вроде, жить не тужить

И все кричат: "Ура!", и все бегут вперёд
И над этим всем новый день встаёт

On the cold earth stands a large city
There, streetlights burn and cars honk,
And above the city is the night, and above the night — the moon,
And today the moon is red like a drop of blood.
The building is standing, the lights are on,
And the view from the window extends into the distance.
So where did this sadness come from?
And, it would seem, you’re alive and well,
And, it would seem, you should live without sorrow —

Meanwhile, all around you, prosperity — you can’t see a thing;
Meanwhile, all around you, beauty — you can’t see a thing;
And everyone’s shouting “Hurrah!,” and everyone runs on ahead,
And above all this a new day is dawning.
